Treating Depression
 
In most cases, depressed persons do not readily see a physician or a therapist most probably because of the negative stigma associated with psychological sickness. When ways to cure depression Malaysia has gone far too long with no intervention, it becomes more difficult to treat. If symptoms such as prolonged black moods of loneliness, lack of zest for for formerly enjoyed activities and life in general, anti-social behavior, and suicidal tendencies are displayed, it means that the person needs immediate help.

There are many ways of treating depression that does not involve taking prescribed drugs. Among this list of alternative medicine are Yoga exercises, meditation, reflexology, aromatherapy, therapeutic massages, and acupuncture. These methods are gaining popularity in treating various diseases and not only curing depression. Other ways of ‘chasing the blues away’ are simple breathing and relaxation exercises, rigorous workouts and pursuing an active and healthy lifestyle.
Treating Depression the Natural Way: Food, Vitamins and Supplements
A change in diet can greatly boost the body in combating depression. Studies show that asparagus, cardamom, lemon balm, rose petals, and cashew nuts have potential in alleviating moods. The acidic body is prone to sickness and stress. Citrus foods and vegetables are known to lower the acidity levels in the body, help the body manage stress and keep the calmness in the mind. Drinking a minimum of 8 glasses of water and limiting red meat intake also help in keeping depression at bay.
Studies also show that vitamin B and Omega 3 can increase serotonin, a hormone which is known to boost happy moods. Taking supplements, however, is best done with proper consultation with a wellness specialist.
Treating Depression with a Therapeutic Community
Treating depression in a holistic way involves taking into a count the biological, social and emotional needs. A depressed person should be surrounded by a ‘therapeutic community’ or trusted persons with whom he/she can have a safe place to vent out anger, frustration, guilt, and self-doubt. If you or someone you love suffer from depression, seek help and intervention as early as possible because this can be a life threatening disorder and it should be taken seriously.
