|
「出願する」に相当する英語表現として適切なのは「make a patent application」です。
「出願を審査する」に相当する英語表現として適切なのは「examine a patent application」です。
「図面」は、「drawing」と訳すのが適切です。
「断面図」は「cross-section drawing」です。
「構成」は「configuration」が良いでしょう。
「実施形態」および「実施例」は、「embodiment」と訳すのが適切です。
「発明の詳細な説明にはコントローラはZ位置を制御する実施例しか記載されておらず」という一節を英訳するなら、
the Detailed Description of the Invention only describes the embodiment in which a controller controls the Z-position
よりも、
the Detailed Description of the Invention contains only a description of an embodiment in which a controller controls the Z-position
の方が適切です。
「なお、クレームや明細書の記載方法については貴殿に一任しますので、審査官の要求に応えることができるように修正をお願いします。」という一文を英訳するなら、
We would like to rely on you in the specific way of description an recitation in the amendment to the claim and specification. Please make amendment to meet the request of the Examiner.
ではなく、
We are content to leave to your discretion the precise description and recitation to be used in the amendments to the claim and in the specification. Please amend in whatever way you consider best so as to meet the points made by the Examiner.
が適切です。
「明細書」は、「specification」と訳すのが適切です。特許の分野で「明細書」といえば、「特許請求の範囲」および「図面」を除く、特許出願書の本体とみなされています。
「算出式」は、「calculation expression」ではなく「formula」と訳すのが適切です。
「既知の発明」、「従来技術」および「先行技術」に相当する英語表現はすべて「prior art」です。
「当業者」は、特許の分野では、「those skilled in the art」と訳すのが一般的です。
「当業者の通常の創作力の発揮により適宜成し得たことと認められる」という一節を英訳するなら、
… regarded as being appropriately achievable by any persons skilled in the art by virtue of displaying their normal creative ability
が適切です。
「当業者が容易に想到し得るものである」という一節を英訳するなら、
a matter (あるいは「something」) that those skilled in the art could easily have devised
が良いでしょう。 |
